The Authority is installing a new wharepaku (toilet facility) in the Duke Street carpark (right-hand side), at 113A Duke Street, Mount Roskill as the current one has reached the end of its service life. Works will also include:

·        Demolition of old toilet block

·        Install new toilet block

·        Construction of a new path connection linking Mt Eden Road to the carpark and wharepaku

·        Upgrading and installation of new lighting in the carpark to improve public safety

·        Removal of old vegetation and planting of new native species in the former wharepaku site and  surrounding the new facility

Timing of works

Work is expected to begin in May 2026 and will take approximately 8 –9 weeks to complete.

Please note that construction timeframes may be affected by weather and/or supply delays.

Work and access

During demolition and installation works, there may be temporary disruptions within the Duke Street carpark area. Signage will be installed in advance to advise of any temporary closures or changes to access.

Work is scheduled to take place Monday to Friday, 7 am – 5 pm, with some Saturdays if required. 

Access

The Maunga will remain open, including the tihi (summit), for pedestrians and cyclists. Manuhiri (visitor) health and safety is a priority, so please follow all signage and instructions from onsite construction staff.

Contractors and emergency services will continue to have access at all times.
