The creation of a new policy declaring Auckland’s Tūpuna Maunga (ancestral mountains) generally alcohol and smoke-free was approved by the Tūpuna Maunga o Tāmaki Makaurau Authority (Maunga Authority) today. The policy recognises and respects the spiritual, cultural and community significance of the Tūpuna Maunga.

Dutch elm disease found on Ōhinerau/Mt Hobson

More than 20 trees on Ōhinerau/Mt Hobson have become infected with Dutch elm disease and are being removed. Auckland Council has arranged for contractors to start removing the infected trees from the eastern slope of the Tupuna Maunga from today.
